Friendly Competition
On February 18th, Bolton Banter held its annual International Speech and Evaluation contest with Minnie Grewal as chair. We were very pleased to welcome several guests to this event.
Congratulations to Andrew Morgan and Corina Simu for their participation in the International Speech portion of the contest. Andrew used the competition as an opportunity to present his icebreaker entitled, "My three favourite life lessons so far". Corina, in her 6th speech from Competent Communicator manual, spoke of "Remarkable people, unthinkable tasks".
The area 15 governor, Guy St. Louis, was this evening's target speaker for the evaluation contest. He delivered a thoughtful speech entitled, "Who am I?" Thank you Guy for attending and playing such an important role in our contest. Bondy Nair, Vince Capicotto and Laurie Stapleton were contestants in this portion of the competition.
Eric Solowka, Vince Capicotto and Laurie Stapleton will advance to the area 15 International Speech and Evaluation contest, to be held at the Talk of Alliston Toastmasters Club on March 10th. The Division M contest will be held on March 20th at the York Region Administration Building, 17250 Yonge Street (s. of Hwy. 9) in Newmarket.
