It was a great party!

On May 29th Bolton Banter Toastmasters officially celebrated its second anniversary with an open house, complete with a cake, refreshments and door prizes.  Chair Brendan Dineen welcomed our guests, including Ward 5 Councilor and Acting Mayor Jason Payne.  Our thanks to all who attended and made this anniversary meeting memorable.

 

For the benefit of our guests, we had a regular meeting to show how Toastmasters works.  We were pleased to note that three guests jumped right in and particpated in Table Topics under the direction of Table Topics Master Jane Collier.  Good for you!

 

Eric Solowka, Northern Division Governor, began the meeting by describing to our guests the purpose of Toastmasters clubs and its role as a vehicle for ongoing learning.

 

Kirk Castator delivered his icebreaker, entitled "Change".  After listening to Sheelagh Rennie's speech, "First Impression", I'd advise everyone to keep their kitchens under lock and key when Sheelagh is around!  Eric Solowka rounded out the evening with "The River", a speech about Buddha.  This Toastmasters club can cover, and cover well, just about any topic you could imagine. 

 

The evening concluded with a presentation to Eric, to mark his ten years as a tireless Toastmaster.  Congratulations Eric. 

 

Minnie was awarded the ribbon for Table Topics.  Sheelagh was voted best speaker and Julie Hordowick best evaluator.

 

Many thanks to all who helped bring together this special meeting.  This was our first open house and we are so pleased to pronounce it successful.
